As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it. Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. Today we’re making the Nik Collection available to everyone, for free. Take the software for a spin and share your results on the forum! Now that Nik desktop collection is free, Google has announced that it will focus its long-term development efforts on a different market entirely, namely photo editing applications on mobile platforms. Shortly after Goolge acquired Nik in 2012, the price of the Nik Collection was halved to $149. With a host of one-click actions and handy tools, Nik is also a viable alternative and/or supplement to the Topaz suite of editing plugins. These programs can help photographers expand their creativity by going above and beyond the tools found in core editors such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
